Challenges and progress of the Singapore Malay community over the decades The episode looks into the challenges and the difficult paths that the Malay community went through over the last five decades as Singapore underwent modernisation and nation building. As it overcame one challenge after another, the Malay community was able to do so by holding fast to the values and principles that made Singapore successful - multi-racialism, meritocracy, self-reliance, mutual cooperation and the spirit of give and take. Looking into the future as the country is now undergoing yet another major changes, can the Malay community still hold fast to those values and principles that have worked so well for it in the past? Interviewees included: Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, Wan Hussien Zuhri, Zulkifli Baharudin, Norsharil Saat, Hadijah Rahmat and Alami Musa.
