This new 3-part series of “The Migratory Birds” is a documentary story on migratory birds. Each year, migratory birds would fly from the bitter cold breeding areas in the North to the warm wintering grounds in the South. On the world map, there are 9 major flyways in which the birds took the routes. One of it is the East Asian-Australasian Flyway which crosses 22 countries, and Singapore is one of them. There are many water birds that visit us each year because we provide them rich food sources and a friendly environment. In Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve you could see the most water birds, with over 2 thousand birds visiting this place yearly. NParks’ conservation officers also specialize in bird conservation, doing bird ringing and documentation. In year 2017, they satellite track a number of shorebirds, tracking down the actual route taken by each bird. This story documents the bird ringing work done by the Nparks’ officers.
