On the Red Dot focuses on the plight of persons with special needs and their families in "A Different Beat". The three - part series zooms in on the individuals with special needs and their parents. We discover how they adapt to lead productive and meaningful lives. The stories show how such individuals can contribute to society in their own way, when theyre given support and love from those around them. 1 in 150 people suffer from autism, and each individual is autistic in a different way. In this episode, we meet Dawn Leong and Nafiz Sulaiman. Dawn was diagnosed at the age of 42, while 10 - year - old Nafiz was diagnosed with autism when he was two. Both struggled with their condition, but with the support of their loved ones, theyve finally found their place in the world. Dawn is a successful multidisciplinary artist while Nafiz has discovered a unique talent.
