A battered box shoved into the backroom. A dusty suitcase hidden under the bed. Each contains the photographic obsessions of Singaporean shutterbugs who captured our history from the 1960s through the 1980s. As a nod to Singapore’s bicentennial commemoration this year, On The Red Dot dives into the archives of a local photographer to uncover an aspect of Singapore’s social history on the cusp of fading from living memory. Singapore Snapshots 1 - Singer Joanna Dong gets a crash course on the 70s music scene in Singapore, which was once buzzing with live music, splashy showbands and rock concerts. Inspired by old photos from veteran musician Clement Chow, Joanna relives the past with some help from music legends Rahimah Rahim, The Flybaits and Jatt Ali.
