Fort Canning Hill assumed diverse roles in Singapore's history that can be dated back to 700 years. In the 14th century, it was a symbol of Malay sovereignty. The existing Keramat Iskandar Shah is now a holy place for many Muslims, who still go there for prayers on special occasions. After Raffles landed Singapore in 1819, Fort Canning Hill became an administrative centre for the British colonial government, and once a military fortress. The programme takes you through the Hill’s changes in the past centuries.
